It's Tuesday Night

Just back from the Village Vanguard, where Guillermo Klein Y Los Guachos are settling in for the week.

DTM and The Thread seem to be in lockstep at the moment:  see a review of the gig Saturday and a guest post by Patrick Jarenwattananon.

Guillermo's surprising arrangement of a movement of Ginastera's First Piano Sonata is fabulous!  As was everything else, the hits especially, but there's also a brand-new rhythm changes piece that should immediately become common currency.

Throughout, Jeff Ballard was earthy and precise.  Jeff is great anytime and anywhere, but in Los Guachos he makes me want to shout from rooftops and interrupt strangers on the street:  "Hey!  Jeff Ballard is at the Vanguard this week with Guillermo Klien.  You should go!"
